Shareen Gray - (Founder & Creative Lead)
Has been playing and promoting the steelpan for many years. She has travelled the world performing and taken part in several major competitions. In 2015 Shareen received an Outstanding Achievements Award from the British Association of Steelbands and became the Chairperson for Endurance Steel Orchestra. She formed Steel Pan Agency in 2010, which predominantly delivers performances and workshops to schools, private functions and corporate events. She is a qualified Arts Award Officer, Professional Fundraiser, founder of Pan Clash and formed Steel Pan Trust in 2013 to encourage music lovers worldwide to listen to the steelpan.
Cheryl Auguiste - (Secretary)
Cheryl has dedicated more than 15 years to the Carnival Art form having grown up in Ladbroke Grove and participating in Notting Hill Carnival. Her love for steelpan grew over the years while attending the UK Panorama Steelband Competition and she soon experienced playing pan at events and touring countries such as the UAE. Fuelled by the belief that everyone should experience the bliss of the steelpan culture, Cheryl encourages all including her family and friends to get involved. Cheryl is committed to being an avid advocate to the steelpan movement.
David Kallooo - Public Relations
David interest in carnival and pan started when he was 9 years old. He grew up in Trinidad and has a keen interest in the history of carnival. He has served for many years as a volunteer with Notting Hill Carnival and a carnival judge for both Notting Hill Carnival and Hackney One carnival and served as Secretary for the World Carnival Commission in 2012. For the last three years he was the Media Manager for the Notting Hill Carnival Pioneers community festival and appointed Advisor-Media & Communication role with Friends of Huntley Archives at London Metropolitan Archives (FHALMA). He continues to promote and highlight the achievements of the Caribbean African diaspora through his online publication Culturepulse.
Ruth Harper - Business Developer & Innovation
Ruth has a career background in business development & innovation at senior level across the NHS & independent healthcare, charity and the creative industries. She is passionate about making a positive difference and ‘building bridges’ across sectors for everyone’s benefit. Her first encounter with the steel pan was at London’s Southbank in her childhood. Hearing a version of ‘Hawaii 5.O’ was the coolest thing she’d ever heard and was hooked! 30 years later and she’s now able to help more people experience the joyous sweet sounds of steel pan music, as a trustee at SPT.
Edivaldo Reis - Social Media
Edivaldo has a career background in Marketing with emphasis on improving companies’ Social and Corporate Responsibilities. Edivaldo has also volunteered for different charities such as Cancer Research and Whizz-Kidz. During his time at university, Edivaldo took part in different fundraising campaigns with both Student Union and Gaelic Football Team, their efforts raised upwards of £5000 during Rag Week. Edivaldo’s love for Social Media grew when he took part in a Social Media Campaign that helped raise awareness to Mental Health at university.
Kevin Joseph - Innovation
Kevin has been involved with steel pan from a very young age. In his late teens it had a very positive effect on the direction he chose to take in life. His interest goes beyond steel pan and has over 20 year experience as a professional photographer producing work for a range of clientele such as Adidas, Puma, Nike, Blacks, Kath Kidson and Mothercare to name a few. He has with established magazines, corporate firms and PR companies. Kevin brings his expertise and wider general understanding and experience of business and the culture and warmth of the steel pan.
